Platters!

These are 5# and are platters rather than plates due to size.  The decoration iron oxide and cobalt carbonate.  The glaze is eggshell.  The clay is actually a mix of white clay and electric brown. Because it is not a clear glaze you cannot see this except on the bottom.  It is a good way to use up the odds and ends of clay.  I do believe this is the largest thing I have thrown so far.

Stuff I've been waiting on

So here is a bowl that was part of the last grouping of bowls but I got wax on hit during glazing.  So we re-heated it to get the wax off and tried again.  This is speckled buff with a blue and the eggshell glaze, the light color is caused by the overlap.

Similarly glazed is a storage jar made to have a cork lid, the opening could have been a tad bit larger to my taste but there it is.

Ok if you have be following along at home you have seen the plates as greenware and bisqued, glazed but not glaze fired.  If not, you can go back and look at these plates.

So here they are all fired.  Some have been done for a while but I just got the last two today so I finally took pictures.

You can see the hotwheel for size. The two are larger and 4#, about the size of a regular dinner plate. The next size down was 3#.

New Plates

Ok here are the newest plates I made, one had a crack (likely dried too fast outside). So I threw that one. So a set of four. This is speckled buff clay and they still need a slight trim job.
